Movie Night at the Bennetts

A couple of weeks ago we hosted a movie night. We showed The Princess Bride, a perenial favorite. Amazingly, there were several people who had never seen it before (we own a copy of the 20th Anniversary Special Edition, so it's not like people haven't had time to see it)! There were also a bunch who had seen it many times, and could say a lot of the lines along with the movie. I can say some of the really famous key lines. My nephew Al and his wife Debra host Princess Bride showings when the turn the sound track off completely, and the party guests are required to supply ALL the lines.

It was a lot of fun, and even the newbies enjoyed this wonderful classic film.

  1. That is hilarious!

Movie night without a soundtrack. I think we could pull that off around here, too. ; )

Wondering if you're going to make it to Winnipeg this year... We'll do what we can to see you again.

  2. "Inconceivable!" that anyone has never seen Princess Bride...although I recently found out that my wife had never seen it either, and now that she has she still looks at me like I am nuts!

  3. Esther--No, sorry, not this time around.

Andrew--I fail to see how seeing or not seeing PB would change your wife's ability to recognize insanity when she sees it. You should just be thankful for a perceptive wife!

That being said, there are people in the world who were not born with the ability to get PB. Pity them.
